Category 3: Professional Identity

Event Description

This presentation provides an opportunity to consider the place of the profession as we move into an increasingly climate-challenged future. Presenters discuss the current state of the climate emergency, including reference to the recent IPCC report, before exploring ideas around pathways forward for the profession, focused on the practice responses of reaction, adaptation and mitigation.

This webinar was presented by the AASW North Queensland Branch.

Presenter: Dr Peter Jones, Social Workers for Climate Action (SW4CA) Team.

SW4CA is an alliance of social work practitioners, students, educators and researchers, working out of James Cook University, concerned about the impacts of climate change on human wellbeing and committed to taking climate action. SW4CA members are involved in social action, in research and publication around eco-social work education, developing and delivering professional development activities and in responding to policy developments.
