This is a recording of one of the concurrent sessions from the AASW National Symposium 2015. The session was entitled "Creating collectively consenting communities". Working with issues of consent for individuals is a skill that Social Workers are familiar with.
This recording will address questions such as:
- How are these skills similar and different when you are working with communities to make policy and law decisions?
- How can one create socially just communities by addressing issues of consent in the population?
- How can leaders lead by consent?
The recording will also present the model the presenter currently uses when consulting with communities.
Presenter details
Joanne Petrovic graduated from Newcastle Uni in 2000 with a BSW/ BA (Psyc). Joanne has spent most of her professional life consulting with communities in Local Government, Migrant services and Health. She currently works three days a week as a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Worker in Narrabri and the other two days a week running a community engagement company PoliVOTE
