These online, on-demand modules allow participants to practice core social work skills, including risk assessment, case formulation, critical thinking, and decision making, within a secure virtual environment. Through engaging exercises, case studies, and simulated scenarios, you will develop the confidence and expertise necessary for success in your role. Additionally, the modules provide supervisee and supervisor guides to support ongoing learning beyond the online experience.
Learning Outcomes
Risk Assessment - completing this module will help you to:
- be self-aware and remain focused on the client’s needs
- familiarise yourself with your organisation’s policy, procedures and standards
- familiarise yourself with relevant legislation around confidentiality and mandatory reporting
- engage in critical thinking through observation and decision making
- navigate discussions and difficult conversations with sensitivity, respect and confidence
- comprehensively assess the client’s risk of harm to themselves or others, and risk of harm from others
- identify and respond to concerns and risks to client safety
- complete a risk assessment.
Case Formulation - completing this module will help you to:
- complete a case formulation by observing a client, collecting information, assessing and evaluating their needs
- engage in critical thinking through observation and decision making
- develop working hypotheses to explain the client’s conflicts and current functions
- demonstrate an understanding of policy and procedures relevant to the client’s situation
- understand and apply confidentiality practices
- recognise and act upon any concerns you may have regarding the client’s safety
- articulate a case formulation in written form.
