Deficit-based information on transgender communities is nearly ubiquitous – even within LGBTQIA+ competency trainings. Despite the pervasive nature of deficit perspectives, transgender and gender diverse people and communities continue to generate authenticity, determination, resilience, compassion, and hope. How can practitioners working with transgender communities develop strengths-based approaches and interventions in practice?
This webinar will re-frame deficit-based narratives around transgender people and communities. It will review the current evidence base on trans resilience and share practical strategies that social workers – whether cisgender or transgender – can apply in practice.
Who should register?
This webinar is suitable for social workers at any level of practice. However, a foundational understanding of LGBTQIA+ people and communities is required. It will serve individuals with a deeper grasp of LGBTQI+ topics, delving into more advanced levels of knowledge and expertise.
